ATHLETE PASSPORT / MOBILE APPLICATION

GROUND BREAKING SCALABLE SMART APP (MICROSOFT AZURE)

Panamoure was approached to build the proposed Athlete Passport Application (“App”) to monitor and manage an athlete’s wellbeing, strength, conditioning and nutrition. The application is the first phase in an expected roadmap which will create various solutions including audience specific apps and the overall athlete management by respective international governing bodies.

WHAT WERE THE CHALLENGES?

  • To conceptualise the overall architecture as Athlete app is just one part of a large puzzle
  • To convert the concept into reality. It was critical to build a smart, feature rich app that ensured all data is captured correctly in a streamlined manner with minimal manual intervention
  • To ensure data is interpreted correctly for experts to monitor, analyse and suggest preventive actions
  • Incorporate appropriate technology infrastructure to enable integration with various third-party specialised products
  • Demanding timelines to deliver the solution

SO, WHAT DID WE DO?

  • The Panamoure technology team designed a comprehensive solution which covered the infrastructure required from app through to centralised management systems.
  • New mobile app was built to act as the ‘Athlete Passport’ – encompassing the professional journey of athletes, capturing all medical data required by their professional clubs and governing bodies
  • Our solution delivered critical features:
    • Smart Connectivity (Apple Watch / iOS Health)
    • Wellbeing Tracker
    • Easy to Use UI/UX
    • Cognitive Services
    • Open for integration with third-party systems
    • Data Security
  • The Solution was designed using the following technology stack:
    • Front-end: Hybrid frameworks such as Ionic, using a single code base to target mobile and web applications
    • Back-end (API): Node JS
    • Database: Azure MySQL
    • Cognitive Services: Azure Cognitive Services
    • Security: Azure Key Vault and Azure API Gateway policies (such as API limit, DDoS prevention, Firewall etc.) to provide security to the portal data over REST APIs
    • DevOps: Azure CI/CD Pipelines with bit bucket for easier and secured deployment to test/live environments
  • Athlete Passport’ app enabled data capture through direct as well as indirect sources (Apple watch)
  • Data-driven sentimental analysis provides insight into athlete wellbeing and mental state
  • App enables Injury management, captures physiotherapy sessions and tracks strength and conditioning exercises
  • App guides athletes on their wellbeing, day-to-day routines, drives on-demand help required from specialists etc.
  • Granularity of data captured will help to create and train AI/ML models for future predictive analysis and drive a proactive plan for physical / mental health events etc.
  • Integration with third-party system (PatientSource) ensures the right data set is secured in the medical repository for correct and authorised usage

Results

  • The Atlas Passport app is no longer an ‘idea’. This real, smart app, designed to manage comprehensive Athlete data in Azure Cloud, now empowers Athletes to control and commercialise their personal data.
  • Athlete Passport app has helped the promoters / stakeholders
  • Established the credibility of their short & long-term vision
  • Secured Series A funding process for the next phase
  • Continues to develop brand recognition amongst large sports leagues and international sports icons
  • Panamoure ODC is now engaged as the Lead Technology Partner to develop the global roadmap for the solution
